I just finished the Dark-Hunter Companion which was the last book in my two month old "to be read" pile.  I'm feeling really excited because now I can finally start some new book series.  It seems so long since I've read a new series because I've spent so much time just trying to keep up to date on the series that I have been following over the past few years.  Yesterday I went out and picked up Twlight  because I've been wanting to check out Stephanie Meyer's vampire books for a long time now.

 

Again, I am excited at the prospect of diving into a new series.

The following are a few series and stand alone books that I am planning on reading in the near future.

 

I've heard so many great things about Lilith Saintcrow's Dante Valentine series.  Can't wait to finally check out these books.

 

Holly Black's Dark Faerie books are another series that have been on my future reading list for a long time.  I love books about the fae.

 

The description of Amy Lane's Little Goddess series is intriging to me.   The reviews on Amazon are positive for the most part but I have not heard a whole lot of buzz on the books at any of the UF forums I visit, so I hope this ends up being a good series.

 

 

Dog Days is the first book released in a planned four book series by John Levitt.  I like what I have read so far on this book and am eager to give it a go.

 

 

Benighted is a stand alone novel by Kit Whitfield that I have read wonderful things about.  I am looking forward to checking it out in the (hopefully) near future.

 

These are centainly not the only new books/series I plan on reading this year, just a few that have been at the forefront of my future book reading list.  Let me know what series/books have been on your list to read, but you just haven't gotten around to them yet.  I'm interested in seeing what books/series people are looking forward to reading.

Fair warning. Benighted is a tough book to read. It's in first person and I mean very much first person. If you like hard core first person then it'll be good. They may also make it into a movie. Some studio bought the rights.

I'm trying to get into Andre Norton & Sasha Miller, The Cycle of Oak, Yew, Ash and Rowan. Started last year but found it a little slow, but giving it another chance.

Thanks for the fair warning on Benighted. I had not heard that it might be turning into a movie. Very interesing.

I want to try the Dark-Hunter companion but it is a little expensive...is it worth it?

You will love the Stephanie Meyer series and I can't believe you have tried it yet!

Valiant by Holly Black is the next book on my tbr pile...Tithe was ok...Valliant will decide for me if it is a worthwhile series to keep following.

Benighted was ok. Not as earth shattering as I thought. The ending was an anti climax in a way....would watch a movie about it though...if the right actors are involved!

I should be doing a review of the Dark-Hunter Companion tomorrow if ya want to check back. I would say the book is useful as a reference book for the DH series that world has gotten so big that we are now going on book 12 with the upcoming release of Ascheron. There is a run down of the more prominent characters from the series, so that if you don't remember a character introduced in book three then you can go look them up in the Companion to refresh your memory. This is one of the DH books I will be holding onto because it is essentially the "bible" of the DH world.
